Mention Fort Myers Beach, and many people instantly think of a vacation destination. Although this “island-town” does draw hundreds of thousands of tourists each year, it is also home to over 6000 permanent residents who enjoy white, sandy beaches, a year round warm sub-tropical climate, along with boating and every water sport imaginable.

Fort Myers Beach stretches seven miles from Bowditch Point Regional Park on the northern tip of Estero Island to Lovers Key State Park on its southern border. The northern portion of the town, entered by way of the San Carlos bridge from Ft. Myers and nearby Sanibel Island, is the largest commercially zoned area on the Southwest Florida coast and is home to many lodging accommodations, restaurants, beachside bars and retail stores. That is also where you’ll find the famous fishing pier that is a Fort Myers Beach landmark.

What really makes Fort Myers Beach a great place to live is water. The turquoise Gulf Of Mexico to the west and Estero Bay to the east provide for numerous housing options from mid and high rise Gulf front condominiums to small beach cottages and newer construction beachfront homes. Fort Myers Beach has the most affordable Gulf front residences in Southwest Florida.

Condominiums on the beach range in size from 1 bed, 1 bath 500+ sq. ft. efficiency units to 3 bed, 2 bath, 1,975 sq. ft. 10th floor luxury condominiums in a newer construction building.

Beachfront homes range from 2 bed, 2 bath, 1000 sq. ft. mid century cottages to 4 bed, 5 bath, 3,500 sq. ft. newly constructed residences.

Single family homes dominate on the bay side of the island with the exception of a hand-full of condominium complexes, most notably Bay Beach on the south end. The majority of bay side homes are situated on canals which offer boating access to the Gulf Of Mexico. In addition, bay side residents have 25 public beach access points on the island making it an easy walk or bike ride to catch the daily sunsets over the Gulf.

Canal front homes, many of which date from the 1960’s and 70’s (most have been renovated) currently range from 3 bed, 2 bath, 1,700 sq. ft. residences to 4 bed, 3 bath, 2,700 sq. ft. homes in pristine condition on prime bay lots.

Ft. Myers Beach offers something for every home buyer seeking the “island life” in a family friendly environment. As a note to investors, because of its vacation appeal, homes and condominiums are always in demand for rent both in season (December through April) and during the Summer months.
